Before you begin, ensure that you have all the necessary tools and equipment. You will need a socket wrench, a flathead screwdriver, and pliers. Additionally, it is important to have a clean workspace to work on.
Flip the chair over so that the base is facing upwards. Ensure that the chair is securely placed on the floor, so that it does not move during the process.
Use the pliers to hold the wheels and turn them counterclockwise until they come off. Some wheels may require more force, so use a bit of strength when removing them. If you encounter any resistance, apply some WD-40 or lubricating oil to loosen the wheels.
Using a socket wrench, unscrew the bolts that attach the base to the chair. Be sure to keep the screws in a safe place, so that you can easily find them when reassembling the chair. Once all bolts are removed, the base should come off easily.
The gas lift is the metal cylinder that connects the base to the chair. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the clip that holds the gas lift in place. Once the clip is removed, pull the gas lift out of the base.
Now that the base is removed, take the opportunity to clean the chair and base thoroughly. Use a damp cloth to wipe away any dirt or debris that may have accumulated over time.
To reassemble the chair, simply follow the steps above in reverse order. Insert the gas lift into the base, then attach the base to the chair using the bolts. Tighten the bolts with the socket wrench. Finally, attach the wheels to the base by turning them clockwise until they are secure.
